Held Bangladesh National Parliament Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed today met with Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf in a bilateral meeting in Tehran. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed arrived in Tehran yesterday to attend the state funeral ceremony of late Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran's Deputy Speaker Hamid Reza Haji Babai gave him a warm welcome at the airport. In the meeting, Speaker Ghalibaf extended a warm welcome to the Bangladeshi parliamentary delegation. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed condemned the brutal killing of Iran's Supreme Leader and expressed deep grief. He expressed deep sympathy and solidarity on behalf of the government and people of Bangladesh to the government and the fraternal people of Iran. He reiterated the centuries-old friendship, deep cultural and diplomatic relations between Iran and Bangladesh. The speaker praised Ghalibaf's constructive role in the implementation of the recently signed Peace Memorandum (MoU) between Iran and the United States. He expressed hope that this agreement would bring lasting peace to the entire region, including Iran.Will bring stability and prosperity. He expressed hope that Bangladesh will maintain support for this peace process and that all problems will be permanently resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. He formally invited Iran's Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time to maintain bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Iran. The meeting was attended by members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly including the Deputy Speaker of Iran and the officials of Bangladesh Embassy in Tehran.
